Happy 4th of July!

Don’t forget to keep your pets inside, cool and comfortable today!

Every 4th of July many pets run away in fear from the noise and smoke and sulfur smells in the air.  They’re afraid.  They don’t understand.  And a lot of these pets are never recovered.  So, please, please, please keep your pets indoors and in a secure place today!

  1. That’s why I found a pet one time. Day after the 4th of July I found a little yappy type dog on the way to work. It did have a collar and I was able to find the owner.

That little dog was lucky to have found you! Not all dogs and owners are that lucky. Some are never found again, some end up at the pound, some manage to find nice, new homes, some get hit by cars, some get themselves hurt in otherways in their panic or worse. Very lucky little pup!

  2. Happy 4th of July! I agree that your message about pets is important. We have a dog who is not phased by fireworks at all, but we still keep her indoors just in case.

Even though 2 of my pack are ok with the noise and smells, my entire pack are about to be happily zonked out on their benedryl here shortly. Tasty raw hamburger meatballs help the medicine go down!

  3. Great reminder! Thanks. And, good job for rescuing that little dog!

I’m still waiting for the invention of silent fireworks. Right now, I have a hard time appreciating them, because all I can think about is the disturbance to wild life, and the pets who will suffer terrible anxiety. Fortunately, Black Jack seems just fine with crowds and loud bangs. Scott, before her, became mildly uncomfortable, but Kim, before him, trembled and hid, in a complete meltdown. There was no comforting her and it was heartbreaking to watch.

Silent fireworks! I love the concept and I’ll be waiting for them too!
