So, this year, we will be hosting the company Christmas get together for Bad Pants’ work group. Now, this doesn’t mean the entire company, but rather those he works closely with here in Atlanta. We have a large, lovely home designed for entertaining. I love to cook and I think it would be a lot of fun!
I expect approximately 20 people, 10 guys and their wives. And apparently wives are kinda optional.
I know this is way in advance, but I want time to try out lots of different recipes on family and any unsuspecting visitors. :)
So…
My question is this:
What are some of your favorite appetizers and hors d’oeuvres? Care to share the recipe?
Thanks!

Spanakopita triangles – if spinach/feta/egg wrapped in phyllo dough sounds good, I will type out the recipe for you. It’s from an actual paper book, gasp.
Beef satay. We use tri-tip but good luck finding that in Georgia! Put it on half-length skewers or even grill it in a basket and stack it on cute toothpicks?
Both sound delish! I’d love the recipe for the spanapokita triangles! I make a spinach, feta, egg crustless quiche, so this has to be good, right?
Oh you don’t need a recipe then! Make your quiche filling with more egg and cheese, so it’s more like a dough than a batter. Melt some butter. Lay out a sheet of phyllo dough, dab it with butter, stack another sheet on top, repeat like 5-7 times. Then cut the stack of sheets into strips, maybe 2-3″ wide. Put a little gob of filling at the bottom of one strip and fold it up like a flag. Bake ‘em at like 375 til they look done. Try very hard to not eat them all before the guests show up.
Little bruschetta (sp?) toasts with melted cheese and tomato (or is it pepper) bits. Fruit salsa (strawberries, kiwi, apples, and orange juice) with cinnamon tortilla crips or cinnamon graham crackers. Also, I love hummus with pita chips. I love eating appetizers; but it’s never something I actually make myself.
See, I don’t usually make appetizers myself, which is why I need to practice ahead of time. I love hummus with carrot sticks! However, I really do expect mostly guys, so I have to think of things guys eat. I’m not sure the average guy eats hummus. Love the bruschetta idea!
Salmon. Want some Copper River Red?
Yes! Of course! Always!
My old stand-by’s are jalapeno poppers and stuffed mushrooms.
I posted the recipes last year after our SuperBowl party;
