Casey has been doing well this week. He’s actively seeking out love now. Well, love and cookies! Yes, that’s right. Casey loves cookies!
Our barn has a dumb rule that requires new horses to spend two weeks in quarantine when then come in. Yes, dumb! They aren’t a quarantine facility. But, don’t get me started!
So, yesterday since no one was around, I turned Casey out into the round pen for the few minutes it took me to strip his stall. Yep! Rebel that I am, I broke the rules and let him stretch his legs. It’s been raining here off and on for the last several days. Yesterday morning was no exception. It poured in the morning and then the sun came out that afternoon.
When I went to bring Casey back in to his fresh, clean stall, this is what I found:
A Mud Pony!
Wasn’t he just nice and handsome? LOL!
So, today, Casey got a bath! He decided that there were big, scary monsters in the wash stall (probably the propane water heater making it’s noise). So we stretched out the hose from the wash stall to just out behind the barn and Casey took his bath in the rain instead. Overall, he did well. A little uncertain at first and leery of having anything near his face. Some grazing during the bath helped ease the experience. The Mud Pony has retreated for the time being. He’s not relaxing around me yet, but we’ll get there.
