Wow! This feral little boy has made some serious improvements in the last 6 days!
Ajax is approximately 5 1/2 months old and un-neutered. Yes, he was spared from suffering the crazy lady who was doing her own surgeries, unlike Dexter. Or from an elastrator. One or the other.
In the last 3 days, Ajax has learned to walk on leash, can now deal with doorways, stairs and different flooring surfaces, has begun to chew on things like a puppy, tolerates all sorts of handling including ear pulling, wags his tail and is happy to follow me.
Honestly, he’s doing better than Dexter, who is still afraid of his own shadow.
Ajax met Freya this morning and is still a little fear-aggressive with other dogs. This is something we’ll continue to work on and Freya is probably the dog to work on this with as she is fair and benevolent with puppies, but doesn’t let them get away with bloody murder.
Later today, I will start hand-feeding Ajax to get him more comfortable with people. Tomorrow, we will start training games if he’ll take food from my hand. Dexter will be going through the same drills to get him over his fear of nearly everything.
