Catching Up
March 9, 2012 by Oregon Sunshine
It’s bee a while since I’ve been here. Lots of happenings have kept me away. Let’s see… Illness, unpacking, more fencing, bad weather, more bad weather, great weather, gardening, colic, tornado, injury, new family member… I think that’s about right.
I never did find my battery charger for my camera, so I bought a new one. Bad Pants finally unpacked the card reader. So, this is mostly a picture post catching up on things.

Roxanne's attempt to "unzip" herself, mostly healed.

Wearing Daddy's t-shirt to keep her stitches and my floor clean- this was earlier than the first pic, as she still had her drain tubes in.

New living room set we purchased right before Rox unzipped herself.

Dude's dye-free, completely from scratch gingerbread house.

Pasture space upon move in, and garden.

Pasture space, run-in and ponies March 2012. Note the front paddock and run-in were all the builder provided for 4 horses.

One of the cleared piles ready to burn on move in.

Builder's version of "burned" burn piles.

Shingle damage to the cottage from the storms.

This guy showed up on Feb 29 while Sugar was colicking. We've had no luck locating his owners.

He's a redtick coonhound, which are apparently a dime a dozen here in the South. No microchip, no response to my ads, no lost reports with AC. It was suggested by the vet that he was probably dumped, as that's not uncommon in our area.

He's about 18 months old, really well-behaved, clearly has had some training, doesn't dig or jump fences, is good with other dogs, and mostly good with the cats. He's very friendly and housebroken too.

So, we're keeping him. He's adopted Dude as his person. We've named him "Bob" or "Bobby", depending on the day. Soon he will be scheduled for a neuter, microchip and vaccs. He'll never be a stray again!

Look at that cute face! I wouldn’t want him to leave either, who could dump a dog like that?? Stupid, stupid people.
Your property looks so nice! Looks like you all are settling in quite well!
Great to see you a couple of weeks ago!
Ooh! I knew I forgot to add something! I also got to spend an afternoon with SG when she was here in Georgia!
We are settling in. Lots of work to be done though still.
Looks fantastic! When can I move in? 😀
I notice that my sarcasm over the burned brush piles was missed.
We have a long, long way to go left before it’s ready. But if you want to park a travel trailer here, be my guest! We have space!
Aw Bob is even cuter than I had pictured 🙂 Glad he found a home with you guys!
And wow, the sellers sure did a bang up job keeping up their end of things *eyeroll*
Your place is nice though and will be fantastic once you’ve got things ‘just so’ 🙂
We’re going to have to pay someone to haul off the brush piles, we’ve discovered. Burning is illegal in this county to begin with. 😦 That’s not going to be cheap! I’m hoping to get that arranged soon so we can get the cleared area disced and seeded before too much longer. Then, we will plan out a barn when the stuff is out of the way!
Bob is a doll! He’s such a nice dog! And he’s decided that Dude is his person. Now, to schedule a neuter and then we’re good!
The new place is beautiful!!
Love Bob’s photo bomb too…LOL Only young pups and goofy geldings! LOL
Oh my gosh! I know! I tried to get “good” photos more than once. He did not cooperate. 😦 Hopefully we’ll have the main cause of that issue taken care of in the next couple of weeks!
That is quite the zipper Roxanne added to herself. Wow.
Bobby is one lucky dog. Very cute too. Glad he found you.
Is Sugar doing ok?
Sug is ok. We lost some precious ground with her weight gain, but other than that, she’s doing fine. We’re just treating for ulcers now and hope the weather doesn’t keep bothering her when we have storms rolling in.
I think that must be “Old Red” You’ve got hear that song if you haven’t already. Not sure who sings it.
I have. Although I tend to see him more as “Old Dan”, from Where the Red Fern Grows. I just hope “Little Ann” doesn’t show up too!
Oh, and that song is by Blake Shelton. Funny, but from his lyrics, “I was headed north to Tennessee and Ol’ Red was headed South”, he was clearly singing about Georgia too! lol
Serious grass envy here. Or maybe it’s just anything green! We still have feet and feet of snow and it’s cold. On the plus side, the northern lights were out in force after the solar ejection. *Almost* makes up for the cold. 🙂
I’ve been seeing people complain about the snow on FB. Guess everyone forgets the traditional St. Paddy’s day blizzards, huh? It’s been less than 10 years too!
Your place is beautiful. I am so happy for you after all the crap you went through at the other place.
Thanks! We’re pretty darn happy with it too!
Aw, I like Bob’s face! But I’m not so crazy about Roxanne’s unzipping damage. Poor girl.
