Well, mine was…
Mine was just ducky! Thanks for asking!
*Note: They are all named “Delicious”, so don’t get too attached. Noisy and messy little buggers will be going to freezer camp in a few months after they help keep the garden slug-free.
They’re trying to drive me quackers. Thankfully, they look scrumptious.
I was going to say “Just ducky”
Hope things go swimmingly until freezer camp 😉
They’re driving me quackers too! As they are still in a brooder box, I try to keep it dry. However, they LOVE to play in their waterer and fling it all around. I feel like I’m constantly changing the brooder box. 😦 But, they do mature faster than chicks, so they’ll be out from under the lamp in another week or so. BTW, they’re maybe 5 days old in these pics and have doubled in size since Saturday.
“QVACK!”
Too! Stinkin! Cute!!!!!!
Actually, they don’t quack yet. They yell and scream and sound like peeps, only way louder. I am going to settle for “tasty” as the descriptor for these guys or they may drive me nuts! Ok, they ARE cute. But they’re not soft or fluffy. They feel like the scrubby side of a sponge that’s been well worn.
I love baby ducks but you’re right, they are loud and messy!
*Freezer Camp* love it, I guess that’s where we sent 3 steers this past weekend 🙂
I may love them more when they move OUTSIDE in the next week or so. I’m hoping so, as we’d like to keep a breeding pair. But, I guess we’ll see!
So cute. Ducks beat baby chicks in the cute department, which is really hard to do.
I was really surprised to learn that they aren’t soft. They look soft, so I expected soft, but they aren’t soft.

Squeee! Go ahead and get attached. You can become indifferent to their fates when they go through that mangy dinosaur stage in a couple weeks.
They are so LOUD right now! Will it get worse? And, I admit, it’s fun to watch them play in the bathtub.
I dunno, I’ve never raised ducklings. I *bought* a duckling once, when my parents ~foolishly~ let me to go a livestock auction/flea market by myself when I was 10 or so, but they rehomed my poor little buddy in like 24 hours. And yelled. OH THE YELLING. The yelling rolled off like (snicker) water off a duck’s back.
As I said, they are all named “Delicious” on purpose…
Funder, they love me now. I swear they keep asking if I’m their mother.
They are adorable. I’m going to have to become a vegetarian now…again…tomorrow maybe, again. Always tomorrow.
What ducky dinner dishes will they become? The only duck I’ve eaten has been at a Chinese restaurant.
I dunno! I guess I’ll have to investigate them now!
The only time I’ve had a bird in my freezer (other than a store bought chicken or turkey) was when my pet cockatiel died in winter and the ground was too hard to bury her. I couldn’t put her out with the trash, so I kept her in the freezer for a few months.
I did that with a goat once. I couldn’t throw her out with the trash, so she stayed in a chest freezer in the garage for the winter. We just didn’t use it ever again.
Duck leg confit! Or braise, but confit is better.
I’m hoping I don’t hate them too much to not keep a breeding pair! Worse case scenario, the dogs will like duck…
You could give them names like:
l’Orange
Confit
Pressed
Peking
Pan Roasted
or Yummy!!
I think that’s why we’re just calling them, “Delicious”. Easier for the kids to not get attached.
Awww.. now those are fun duckies for the bath tub 🙂
Much better than the rubber duckies.
So cute!!!!
Hot chicks!!
We have them too! Can you believe my brother turned down the opportunity to sleep in a room full of hot chicks? Sheesh! What’s this world coming to?
Do I even want to know what “freezer camp” is???
Probably not. You might never eat meat again. 😉
