We’re on a tornado/ thunder storm alert for most of Western Oregon at the moment.
All my Oregon blog friends, please get to a secure, downstairs place ASAP!
The worst part of this so far is about to hit Portland.
-O.S. (blogged from my laundry room with the kids and critters tucked away)
We made it through unscathed. We had several funnel clouds overhead here locally. Now, as a rule, we do not get tornadoes as a rule. Thunderstorms, yes. Tornadoes, no.
We spent about 2 hours in the laundry room, watching the local news on my laptop with it running off the battery. Honestly, it sounded very scary in the laundry room. Earthquakes aren’t a biggie to me, but this was my first real tornado/ thunderstorm. The biggest funnel cloud moved in a westernly direction and did not touch down until it reached the coast and it continued to move out to sea- somethimg the news reports as unusual.
CP had a bit of excitement in south Portland as well at his office. They lost power, had windows shatter and the building was directly hit by lightening. He made it home just fine.
It was the most excitement we’ve had in quite a while. And, if this is the excitement in store for us in the near future, Mother Nature can just keep it, thank you! We’ve had enough.
All in all, it was an experience and no one we know was hurt, thankfully.
